While this resort is definitely not a party place, it does attract a wide age range of vacationers (mid 20’s to mid 60’s). Although wine is emphasized here, drinks of all kinds can be ordered at any of the six bars. Master Suite sitting room areas, courtesy AMResortsĭining opportunities include five a la cartes, a buffet, a café, and poolside BBQ’s as well as paella on occasion. This resort has recently acquired in-room iPads which guests can use to make spa reservations, check out the latest resort activities, upload photos to one’s media account, or surf the web. Several guest room categories also have in-room soaker tubs with exterior views, another great room amenity. Those wanting more shower privacy may want to consider the Master Suite since this room category has a separate living room–the shower is inside the bedroom and the bedroom can be closed off by a sliding panel. Although it has a beautiful design, it can pose a privacy issue for friends traveling together or parents bringing adult children. One of the resort’s distinctive amenities is the white glass shower inside each guest room, usually within site of the bed. The resort recently added a colorful Cancun sign on the beach for guest photo ops. If there aren’t enough shade umbrellas already set up, just ask a staff member and they will set one up for you. There are hammocks and canopied structures (similar to the ones poolside) on the north side of the property along the wall, and there are plenty of loungers to go around. Several steps lead down from the pool to the powder-white sand beach with its easy ocean entry and stunning turquoise waters. One of the beachfront pools, courtesy AMResorts There are two poolside bars, but no swim-up bar. There is also a very popular beachfront Jacuzzi, and be sure not to miss the “chef’s parade” which happens at 1 p.m. (kitchen staff bring out trays of appetizers to hand out to the guests). Although the canopies are not typical resort-style Bali beds, two padded loungers with accompanying pillows are provided for each shaded area. While all sundecks have loungers and umbrellas, canopied structures are available for all guests on the main sundeck. The Preferred Club pool is for Preferred Club guests only with its own bar service, padded loungers, and shade umbrellas, all with a great ocean view. There are four heated pools which were recently renovated–two beachfront pools, a lengthy lap pool, and the more sedate and isolated Preferred Club pool up on the 12th floor. Given its perpendicular orientation to the sea, amenities are in close quarters to one another, especially the outdoor areas. Last but not least, we also want to thank Jeovani and Manolo Elvira from Market Cafe.Aerial view of Secrets the Vine, courtesy AMResorts Loved the long stretch of clean, white sandy beach, the pools were wonderful, especially on the priority level. We would definitely recommend Secrets on the Vine and have done so already. They were both wonderful and made sure that we had everything we needed. He and the chef there made sure that our anniversary dinner was one that we will never forget! Thanks guys!! We opted for the Preffered Club option with butler service, by way of Melina and Pingting. Oscar has a terrific personality and his hospitality was top notch. We will forever be grateful to Oscar from Dragon, which was in our opinion the best restaurant. They were always friendly and went above and beyond. The staff took extra care in terms of cleanliness and took such great care of us. Our room was huge and the view was amazing. We were there from October 11th through 18th celebrating our 13th anniversary and cannot say enough about our experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Secrets on the Vine.

The wine industry in Napa Valley recovered, and helped by the results of the Paris Wine Tasting of 1976, came to be seen as capable of producing the best quality wine – equal to that of Old World wine regions. Viticulture in Napa suffered several setbacks in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including an outbreak of the vine disease phylloxera, the institution of Prohibition, and the Great Depression. In 1861 Charles Krug established another of Napa Valley's first commercial wineries in St. John Patchett established the Napa Valley's first commercial vineyard in 1858. The combination of Mediterranean climate, geography and geology of the region are conducive to growing quality wine grapes. Records of commercial wine production in the region date back to the nineteenth century, but premium wine production dates back only to the 1960s. Napa Valley is considered one of the premier wine regions in the world. It was established by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) on January 27, 1981. It can stop running or circling thoughts, help us refocus on the situation, and help control the physiological stress symptoms that ramp up when feeling overwhelmed or panicky. The 3×3 grounding technique used by snipers helps get us out of our heads and grounded in the present moment. This is a valuable skill for first responders. Mindfulness allows us to experience what’s happening without getting wrapped up in it or more ramped up by it. And the present moment is fleeting, so our attention will be fleeting with it. Mindfulness is a focus on the present moment, this means we aren’t worrying about what’s happening next, we aren’t reflecting on what already happened, we are just focusing on what is, right now. If you don’t like this one, check out these other breathing strategies like the physiologic sigh, three part breath, 2:1 breathing or rhythmic (cadence) breathing Take your foot off the gas Each cycle of inhale, hold, exhale, hold is one round of breathing, Do six rounds (about two minutes). Inhale for four counts, hold for four counts, exhale for four counts and hold for four counts. Sit or stand up tall, roll your shoulders back and take deep breaths that expand your belly. There are a lot of effective breathing strategies out there, and the most common one used by first responders is Tactical Breathing (sometimes called box breathing or square breathing). Deep belly breathing stimulates the vagus nerve which regulates the stress response. The fastest way to impact your physiology, your heart rate, and the stress response is to control your breathing. This means you need to practice multiple strategies so you know which ones to lean on. It’s most important for you to use the ones that work best for you when you need them to. There are several strategies that help you regain your focus and composure and take the edge off the stress response.
“To recreate some of her songs is so much fun, because the arrangements are so good.” “Kay did the first nightclub act where people really moved around the stage and hung microphones,” Minnelli explains. The show is based on the nightclub act of Minnelli’s beloved godmother, Kay Thompson, and the Williams Brothers. Her current concert, which she will perform at the McCallum, is called The Godmother and the Goddaughter. “It’s interesting, because their grandmother brings their mother who knows me, who brings their daughter who was a great big fan of Arrested Development.” “The funny thing is, I have so many young fans now,” Minnelli says. She also became a fan favorite on the cult TV hit Arrested Development in 20, which broadened her appeal. In 1989, she collaborated with the Pet Shop Boys for the successful dance hit “Losing My Mind.” Last year, she was the guest vocalist on an album for the rock band My Chemical Romance. Minnelli continues to evolve as an artist by opening herself up to new experiences and carefully choosing acting roles. Years of touring with acting gigs sandwiched in between marked much of the next three decades for Minnelli, highlights of which included a record-breaking three-week run at Carnegie Hall in 1987, a Grammy Legend award in 1989, and two Golden Globes. Her Emmy-winning televised concert in 1972, Liza With a Z, cemented her status as a gifted singer and dancer who knew the meaning of showmanship. Though Minnelli has acted in her share of films (her most notable being Cabaret, for which she won an Oscar), concerts have always taken center stage. In late 1965, she performed her first nightclub act, marking the beginning of her tenure as one of the world’s greatest live performers. At 19, Minnelli garnered her first starring role on Broadway in Flora the Red Menace, for which she became the youngest woman to win a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She briefly attended New York High School for the Performing Arts before making her professional debut at 17 in the off-Broadway Best Foot Forward with Christopher Walken.Ī year later, Minnelli’s first album, Liza! Liza!, reached the Billboard charts, followed by a co-billing with her mother at the London Palladium. In her teen years, she felt the pull of New York. After her parents’ divorce in 1951, she split her time with her father in Los Angeles and on the road with her mother, who toured the world as a concert performer. Born to Judy Garland and movie director Vincente Minnelli in 1946, she got her first official taste of stardom in her mother’s 1949 film In the Good Old Summertime. Minnelli certainly lived - and eventually transcended - the traditional lifestyle of the Hollywood kid. “For every kid in Hollywood, everybody was uncle somebody.” “He was my adopted uncle - Uncle Frank,” she fondly recalls. And, like many a celebrity who traveled through Palm Springs in the latter half of the 20th century, Minnelli found a temporary home at the Sinatra complex. In the 1993-94 season, she performed a four-show set at the McCallum for what she calls “a wonderful audience.” In February, she received the Steve Chase Humanitarian Award for Arts and Activism. Minnelli is no stranger to the Coachella Valley. 29, when she headlines the performing art center’s 20th anniversary gala. The good doctor brings her prescription of song and dance to McCallum Theatre on Nov. If there’s someone in the audience who’s going through a bad time, I can give them just an hour and a half of relief.” And if that’s what being a doctor means, then I think I’ve earned the. “All I know is that a doctor is supposed to make you feel better. “I had to think in my own terms of what a doctor does,” she says. The honor prompted Minnelli to put her work into perspective. Minnelli,” she says in her trademark breezy manner.Įarlier this year, Mercy College in New York City bestowed an honorary doctorate upon the celebrated performer for her charitable activities and a career that has spanned five decades and multiple genres. Liza Minnelli wants to share a somewhat unexpected revelation. I don’t see why chimp society with constant war and violence should be any better. My Note: nonsense, why should war be better? Jack Donovan seems to prefer the warring chimpanzees and says our current western society is more like a bonobo one. The bonobos are a matriarchal society where women mate with everyone in the group. The chimps are a patriarchal society where men compete with each other. He compares the chimpanzees’ society to the bonobo society. It’s with violence that we evolved to compete for status and power. So masculinity has become whatever people want it to be.Įven the effeminate man claims to be the “latest evolution of being a man”.īut ultimately, you have to stay true to the core value of a man.Īnd, the book seems to suggest, it’s not with words or career that we evolved to compete. Today we do it with sports, video games or trying to make a career.Īnd even then, most men don’t take part in those. Jack Donovan says there’s a part of us that still longs to be a man. I agree indeed that women are little concerned with honor. The effeminate men represent the complete opposite of what men should be standing for. He says that when men scoff at other effeminate men, they are often rejecting their weakness and their lack of manly virtues. It is also mostly referring to other men. Your reputation is tight to the other elements of strength, mastery and courage. King, Warrior, Magician, Lover: The 4 Archetypes of Masculinity That’s why I recommend reading “ King, Warrior, Magician, Lover“. Overly courageous and putting people’s lives at work for personal glory is not courage, but it’s bad leadership. I think it might be easy for men to misunderstand this step. Such a man, makes the gang more vulnerable. CourageĬourage means taking action even when there are risks or dangers.Ī man who takes no risks or sacrifices nothing for the gang is a man that cannot be relied upon, says Donovan. Mastery is equivalent to the “Magician” male archetype in “ King, Warrior, Magician, Lover“. If you’re a firefighter, it might be your courage, or your ability to go climb a tree without any gear. If you’re a football player, it could be how well you defend or how well you score. If you’re a soldier, it might be your endurance or your marksmanship. This will depend heavily on the type of gang you’re in. Mastery is your level of skills in a certain field. She will still have a good life and she’ll have several men lining up happy to help her out.īut if a man is weak, that’s a big stain for him that will make him less respected among other men. Jack Donovan says that a woman can be strong as well.īut if she’s not, nothing will change much. Men differentiate from women because, on average, they’re stronger. Men, says Jack Donovan, are judged by other men and attract women when they obey to four core values: #1. To Donovan, being a man means going back to when we used to sit and camp around a fire, guarding our caves, women, and possessions.Īlways looking outside at what could threaten us and always ready to attack it. Introductionĭonovan says we sometimes see men trying to get back to what it means being men in the primordial way.īut they have to do so in a way that seems unnatural in a culture that does not accept those natural expressions of manliness. Some consider Jack Donovan a red pill author, but to me, his content is more like “male-tribalist”, similar in that sense to Sebastian Junger. An openly gay author, he condemns gay culture when it overlaps with feminism and leftist politics. Masculinity is at odds with our PC, overly polite societyĪbout The Author: Jack Donovan writes on masculinity.A man needs a gang of other men to fully develop his manhood.A man must show Strength, Courage, Mastery and Honor. This feature simplifies many stoichiometric calculations. For example, the water molecular weight is 18,015 atomic mass units (AMU), so a mole of water weighs 18,015 grams. For example, since two hydrogen atoms will combine with one oxygen atom to form a water molecule (H2O), two moles of hydrogen (2 × 6.022 × 1023 hydrogen atoms) will combine with one mole of oxygen (6.022 × 1023 oxygen atoms) to form One mole of H2O.Īnother property of Avogadro’s number is that the mass of one mole of a substance is equal to the molecular mass of that substance. Chemical Computations with Mole and Avogadro’s Number:Īvogadro number is necessary for understanding the composition of molecules and their interactions and combinations. Avogadro’s number is defined as the number of elementary particles (atoms, molecules, compounds, etc.) per mole of matter, equal to 6.022 × 10^23 mol^ basic units of molar mass. The Avogadro number is the proportion that relates the molar mass on the atomic scale to the physical mass on the human scale. Amadeo Avogadro first proposed that at a given temperature and pressure, the volume of a gas is proportional to the number of atoms or molecules, and has nothing to do with the type of gas.Īlthough he did not define the exact ratio, he owes the idea to him. Avogadro’s Number:Īmedeo Avogadro is considered to be the number of units (usually molecules or atoms) in a substance that is proportional to its physical mass. The molar mass of the NaOH compound is 40 g/mol. Now, molecular mass calculator add all masses of substances together:ġ6 g / mol + 23 g / mol + 1 g / mol = 16 g / mol + 40 g / mol 23 g / mol + 1 g / mol = 40 g / mole In the NaOH compound, the molar mass of Na alone is 23 g/mol, the molar mass of O is 16 g/mol, and the molar mass of H is 1 g/mol. Therefore, the molar mass of Na2CO3 is 106 g/mol. If molecular formula calculator add up the total value, which is 12 + 46 + 48 = 106 Since sodium carbonate contains one carbon atom, two sodium atoms, and three oxygen atoms, the molecular weight is What is the molar mass of sodium carbonate Na2CO3? However, an online Ideal Gas Law Calculator determines the unknown measurable properties of the ideal gas law equation. Then, molecular formula calculator Puts everything together and specify the unit of measurement as grams/mole. Now, the molecular weight calculator multiplies the atomic weight of each element by the number of atoms present in the compound. The molar mass calculator uses the chemical formula to determine the number of atoms of each element in the compound. How to Calculate Molar Mass of a Compound? When you want to determine the molecular weight of different molecules, then put these weights in the molar mass equation to find the total weight of a molecule: However, an online Chemical Equation Balancer Calculator finds a balanced equation and equilibrium constant with chemical names and formulas. Therefore, the unit of molecular weight is g/mol. In other words, the molar mass is the total mass (in grams) of all the atoms that make up one mole of a given molecule. The molecular weight of the compound determines the mass of 1 mole of the specific substance and the number of grams per mole of the compound. One mole of compound contains the Avogadro number of the molecule or formula unit (6.02214076 × 10^23 moles). It is similar to other counting units, such as a pair (2) and a dozen (12). Molar Mass Formula:Ī mole is a counting unit used to determine the number of molecules, atoms, ions, or molecular formula units in a certain compound. It can be calculated by adding the standard atomic mass of its constituent atoms. Generally, the molar mass is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the number of particles it contains. Molar mass is measured in grams per mole (g/mol). In chemistry, the molar mass of a compound is defined as the mass of the compound in the sample divided by the amount of substance in the sample. In this context, you can understand how to find molar mass and much more. In addition, the atomic mass calculator displays a pie chart for mass percentage composition by element. An online molar mass calculator allows you to calculate the molecular weight, hill notation, nominal, and monoisotopic mass for given chemical formulas. This is due in part to it being a more powerful machine than DYMO’s line of 450 printer models. It costs about $100 more than the basic DYMO 450 and about $25 more than the DYMO 450 Twin Turbo. This is due in large part to the specific labels it requires. It doesn’t require calibration and prints perfectly each time. It’s the easiest to use straight out of the box regardless of if you use a Mac or PC. The Dymo Label Writer 4XL is probably the most widely thermal label printer for 4” x 6” labels. What Should I Get Instead of the Dymo 450? DYMO Label Writer 4XL These labels can break down to $0.01-$0.02 apiece. Some models, like the Rollo thermal printer, TSC’s DA2000, and higher-end printers like Zebra allow for fan-fold labels. You may also end up with a warehouse full of labels you can’t use. If it’s not there, your labels will not print correctly. DYMO requires a perforation between each label to distinguish where each label ends and begins. If you do end up getting a DYMO 4XL, be sure you buy the correct label. Label rolls typically end up having a comparable $0.10-$0.15 cent per label cost. The only added cost with a thermal label printer is the labels. It is a precise way of thermal printing time and time again without the need for buying new ink or ribbons. Thermal heat transfer is a direct thermal printing technology. So, it may end up being worth it to upgrade to a thermal label printer. Of course, you have to also buy new ribbons and ink cartridges over time. If you use an inkjet printer, you can use integrated labels and for anywhere between $0.10 to $0.15 a label, you can print your labels with an adhesive back and place them on the parcel. If you need a way to print your 4” x 6” labels and an inkjet printer is all you have other than a 450 series DYMO, you may wonder if it’s worth the upgrade. Should I Just Use an Inkjet Printer or Get a 4” x 6” Thermal Printer? So, you only need to find a DYMO LabelWriter printer that accommodates to the narrower dimension for your labels. This problem is usually caused by a dirty printer sensor, by using an old roll of labels, or by using third-party labels not manufactured by DYMO. NOTE: Label printers generally print in portrait orientation. They are able to print 2” labels just as easily as they do 4” wide labels. What’s more, you’re not limited to printing 4” x 6” labels with these larger printers. If you plan on printing labels for these carriers and moving beyond just printing stamps and address labels, you will want to upgrade your DYMO printer. Why Should I Get a Printer that Prints 4” x 6” Labels?Ĥ” x 6” labels are the standard-sized shipping label for major carriers like UPS, FedEx, USPS, and DHL Express. Since we only support 4” x 6” labels from our carrier partners, we can only advise or offer support for the DYMO 4XL. ShipStation does not support the DYMO Label Writer 450, DYMO Label Writer 450 Turbo, DYMO Label Writer 450 Twin Turbo, or the DYMO Label Writer 450 Duo. For printing 4” x 6” labels, you would need to use the DYMO Label Writer 4XL, as its XL support comes from its ability to print “extra-large” 4-inch wide labels. The reason behind this is simple: The DYMO Labelwriter 450 doesn’t have the ability support 4” x 6” labels. While the DYMO Label Writer 450 is a great printer that can print name tags, stamps, and address labels it WILL NOT print 4” x 6” labels.
